Lots of new libraries and plugins this week as well as a number of great tutorials on HTML5 features like application cache, audio, drag and drop file handling and requestAnimationFrame. The application cache article seems to have garnered some unwanted attention for its language but it really is a fantastic article and worth the read. This week features a lot of outstanding content including a number of new libraries and microlibraries this week as well as a couple tutorials on Adobe Shadow, jQuery Mobile, CoffeeScript and Node among others. Plus, the second issue of Appliness, the digital magazine for developers, is out and includes lots of great articles including original content. I definitely recommend checking it out. Lately you may have been hearing a lot about Adobe Shadow. It seems that I wasn't the only one who took some time to finally getting around to adding it to my workflow. The thing is that, once you do, you start to see how much Shadow improves that workflow when testing browser based applications on devices. While I only have a few devices, it seems obvious that the more devices you are testing, the more time this saves.
This post will cover how to set up Shadow on your desktop and your devices and then discuss some of its capabilities and, also, some of its current limitations. Keep in mind that this product is still in a preview release on Adobe Labs, so limitations are to be expected and many may be resolved in future updates. Also, as I was writing this, Christian Cantrell released a similar type of tutorial covering Shadow but in video format.

This was a really busy week with quite a few new libraries, a number of good tutorials on a wide variety of topics and even some excellent interviews and discussions. This really was a week overflowing with top-notch content. The bad news is that you have a lot of reading to catch up on. The good news is that it is all worthwhile and you’ll learn a ton. By usual standards, this was kind of a light week. There were tons of posts but many people seemed focused on the great semicolon debate of 2012. At this point the number of time and words devoted to a single punctuation mark is rather astonishing. Nonetheless, there were still some great posts this week such as Mike Robinson's HTML5 semantics discussion and Tom Giannattasio showing how the Beercamp pop-up book site was built using CSS.
