ColdFusion Open-Source Update - July 16

Posted on Jul 16, 2007

A busy week with four new projects and five updates. I hereby dub this the week of the tutorial with ten tutorial(ish) posts this week. In case you are wondering, I do in fact have the authority to dub weeks - its a provision my lobbyist had written into the reauthorization of the Patriot Act. Ok...'nuff foolin'...

Some Tips on Using ColdSpring Remoting

Posted on Jul 16, 2007

As part of developing a training exercise (and in my continuing series on objects and composition), I was trying to work with ColdSpring's auto-magic remoting feature (check the documentation for more information on this feature). I ran into some issues that had me pulling my hair out, so to save you the headache, I will post the details here. 5 Steps to Moving from BlogCFC to MachBlog

Posted on Jul 15, 2007

Thus, I wanted to share my process as well as code that can help in this transition (and hopefully some of this can be incorporated into the MachBlog project itself).

Posted on Jul 11, 2007

A friend sent me a link to another insightful article by Robert Cringely that I had missed about the future of Adobe and Flash. It represents a very interesting perspective not unlike ones I have seen before but with some differentiating insights into the how and why Flash's ubiquity can play a key role in Adobe's efforts to reinvent itself (as he puts it). The article is worth a read for sure, and I just wanted to jot down some thoughts and summarize a few points for my own (and hopefully your) benefit, in the end relating this back to our position as ColdFusion developers a bit.

ColdFusion Open-Source Update - July 9

Posted on Jul 09, 2007

Three new projects and four updates to discuss this week. This week's edition is dedicated to the brilliant person/program managing the firewall that blocked Ray's site at my office. It is understandable given all the objectionable material Ray discusses on his blog like recent posts on a var scope "screw up" (yikes! he said screw!) and Boeing (OMG, is he talking about flashing?!?). Anyway, this delayed my post a bit, but here it is in all its glory! The man will not keep me down!
