ColdFusion Open-Source Update - August 25, 2009
Three new projects and three updates of ColdFusion open source projects this week. It's now late August, and you know what that means! You don't? Ok, it means that starting very soon, the witless banter of the open-source update introductions will be moving to the topic of football, specifically the Miami Hurricanes and Dolphins. I expect it to begin as usual, with a sense hopefulness tinged with doubt. By October you should notice its moved to fits of anger and frustration and by November it should already have turned to self-pity and despair. Finally, by December it will have completed the cycle into a sense of resignation and hopelessness. However, now that I've given away the ending, you can feel free to ignore future intros and skip right to the guts of the post. Enjoy!
In case you haven't heard, RIA Unleashed : Boston is a full day, 3-track event being held on Friday, November 13 with focus on Flex, AIR, ColdFusion and more. I announced the event and opened registration with a number of big names already signed on to speak including Adam Lehman, Jeff Tapper, Andrew Powell, Shannon Hicks, AdamFlater, Peter Bell, Jason Delmore, Steven Erat and Todd Yard. Since then, however, I have added some very exciting names to the speaker list (which is almost filled - 2 more announcements coming) and I wanted to take a moment to highlight these. This event is getting fantastic support from Adobe and you'll see we've added a couple more Adobe names to the list as well as "ColdFusion Jedi Master" Raymond Camden. See the full list by clicking for more.
If you ask a ColdFusion developer what they think of the ColdSpring
framework, chances are that you will get one of two answers. Either
they will gush about how useful it is and how they couldn't imagine
building large-scale applications without it or they will say they
don't really understand the point. In my experience this is because
until you encounter the problems that ColdSpring solves, it can seem
like a complex solution to a problem you never had. However, when you
begin building more complex applications, the benefits of a framework
like ColdSpring quickly become apparent.
This guide aims to
introduce the problems that ColdSpring can help to solve and provide
enough information to get started using it. We'll begin by looking at
how these problems are generally managed without ColdSpring and then
compare that to a sample with ColdSpring to hopefully illustrate some
of the benefits. While I won't go into great depth and our example
applications are simple, we'll cover a number of areas including
configuring ColdSpring for managing dependencies, aspect oriented
programming and generating remote proxies.
ColdFusion Open-Source Update - August 18, 2009
Four new projects and four updates this week in ColdFusion open source. A lot of tutorials and presentation code this week coming from CFUnited. Personally, this was my third CFUnited and I have to admit it was by far the best. The venue was great (awesome gym and pools), the food was great and most of all the content seemed to have been taken up a notch. Great job Stellr!
ColdFusion Open-Source Update - August 12, 2009
One new project and four updates this week. Sorry for the delay but I was traveling and hanging out smoking cigars at CFUnited yesterday. Right now I am watching Ben Forta, Adam Lehman and Terry Ryan present the keynote at CFunited. Sounds like there is an exciting announcement to come later in the presentation...we're all waiting with baited breath! :)
