Cool Stuff with the Flash Platform - 7/22/11

With it being over 100 degrees outside, it's the perfect time to stay in and code. So the almost 30 samples and tutorials for Flash, Flex, AIR and ColdFusion here might bring you some inspiration. Personally, I am really eager to test out the e-skimo component library for Flex mobile - plus anything called e-skimo seems bound to keep me cool.

Book Review: Developing Android Applications with Adobe AIR

I don't do a ton of book reviews but I really wanted to take an opportunity to highlight a book I think is great resource for anyone looking to build mobile applications with Adobe AIR. Here's the thing to me about purchasing books: if I expect you to shell out hard-earned money for a book (especially one in print), I better offer something significantly better than what I can get for free from either Adobe's official documentation or by Googling. This book, "Developing Android Applications with Adobe AIR" by Véronique Brossier, does just that. Here's how.

Cool Stuff with the Flash Platform - 7/14/11

It's been a couple weeks since I posted one of these updates, so this one is pretty massive (and if you notice something recent missing, that's because it took me a couple days to get it fully written - and your post will probably be in next week's update). I just returned from the Dominican Republic and Colombia on a whirlwind vacation but with very limited data access (especially in DR). Anyway, there were a ton of great posts while I was away, especially a lot of mobile application showcases using the Flash Platform. I am at a mobile conference in New Hampshire today and can attest that these kinds of showcases do go a long way towards proving the viability and success of the platform.
