ColdFusion Open-Source Update - January 1

So, I finally took a week off from these updates figuring the holidays would be quiet...man, was I proven wrong. Apparently a lot of open-source developers spend their holidays writing more code. Not me! Anyway, this is a day late as well, but as you can see there was a ton of news over the past two weeks including 3 new projects and 4 updates released.

New Releases and Updates

New Project: CF Email Campaign
Initial Release
This email/newsletter campaign manager application by Michael ONeil is available at RIAForge. It was built using Model-Glue Unity with Reactor and currently supports what appears to be a solid set of functionality, though only for MS SQL for the moment.

New Project: User Group Manager
Initial Release
Another project built with Model-Glue, Phil Duba's user group web site code is based upon the Philly CFUG site and is also available at RIAForge.

New Project: ColdBox Reader
Initial Release at RIAForge
Luis Majano has released an RSS reader application built with his ColdBox Framework. It includes many "web 2.0" type features, which you can see by viewing the demo.

Canvas
Canvas 2 Beta Released
Ray Camden has released a new bet a of his wiki application (including a schnazzy new logo). The new code was all contributed by Mark Mazelin and includes an extensive list of new features.

Flogr
Update Released
Scott Stroz added the ability to print information in the log files to his ColdFusion log viewer application.

Added CF Standard Compatibility
Flogr now has the ability to work on both CF 7 Enterprise and CF 7 standard because the event gateways are no longer a requirement.

ColdFusion UPS Package
Update Released
Ray Camden's UPS api integration component now has a first draft of a shipping rates service.

ImageCFC
Version 2.11 Released
The latest update to Rick Root's image manipulation component fixes some bugs and improves performance on the blur filters.

New FBSecure Plugin for Fusebox 5
Sandra Clark has released a new version of her FBSecure plugin which is a surcurity system that uses security profiles for users.

AjaxCFC
jQuery Version Alpha Release
Rob Gonda has finished working up a version of AjaxCFC that now uses the jQuery engine that allows you to easily drop in plugins. Other than one change, the usage remains the same as the old versions and is fully backwards-compatible. You can comment on the post if you want the bleeding edge release, otherwise a public beta should come very soon.

ColdBox Surpasses 500 Downloads
The title says it all ;)

CFUnit
New CFEclipse Unit Testing Features
Robert Blackburn has contributed unit testing wizards and a "CFUnit View" to the upcoming CFEclipse release.

MachBlog
Updates
Matt Woodward discusses the delays in getting a public MachBlog release and some of the progress that has been made.

More Updates
MachBlog has been tested and is working on a number of platforms with a variety of DBMS and is getting close to a public release.

MachBlog on Vista
MachBlog with SQL Server 2005 Express works fine on Vista.

Public Beta Coming Soon
Andy Powell states that he plans to release a public beta sometime in january via the MachBug web site.

Upcoming Changes
Michael Traher discusses some upcoming changes to secure FTP component.

Model-Glue
Unity Beta 2 Update
Joe Rinehart announces that the bleeding edge of Model-Glue no longer includes the Reactor specific configuration and will need to be manually configured to use Reactor (or Transfer).

Model Glue and Reactor Divorce
Nando has a funny take on the recent removal of the Reactor specific portions of Unity's configuration (Unity now supports both Reactor and Transfer).

FarCry
Jeff Coughlin had a number of updates related to the upcoming FarCry 4 release including an interesting feature comparison to the PHP-based Drupal CMS (though that post specifically isn't version 4 specific actually).
