Boston CFUG Where Are You?

Posted on Sep 27, 2005

A long time ago I posted about the inactive Boston CFUG. Shortly thereafter Steven Erat volunteered to start the Online ColdFusion Meetup Group, but that hasn't hosted a meeting since July. Still, even though I enjoyed the online meetings, they tend to be impersonal. Then today, I happened back to the Boston ColdFusion User Group page and notice it said the following:

The Boston CFUG is starting up again. Keep an eye out for a September meeting!

Now, being that it is currently the 27th of September and they still don't have any details about that September meeting, I am not very hopeful. Nonetheless, this isn't the message that had been there for many many months. Is that a pulse I detect, however faint? So, there is some life left in you after all CFUG Boston?

Steven Erat Very cool! Whoo hoo!

Well there's no reason that we can't have a local Boston CFUG
*and* an Online CFUG as well to suit those in remote areas or
just at their desk during lunch :) I've just returned from a
lengthy vacation a couple weeks ago, and I'll be arranging for
a speaker (any volunteers?) for October. True that they are somewhat
impersonal, but they sure are convenient and archiveable.

Paperthin, vendors of CommonSpot CMS, is the registered owner of
bostoncfug.com, but more specifically its Ron West.

So, ... Ron?

Heff Houser When I was up at the MM offices for the CF Birthday party there was talk about re-starting up the group, but I have no idea if anything ever happened w/ it. ( Apparently not, or at least not yet)

Brian Rinaldi Steven, I would love to see both exist, in case that wasn't clear. Can I contact Ron through Paperthin to get a status? Would that be too pushy? I would be happy to help where I could.

Steven Erat I just spoke with Ed Sullivan who runs the User Groups part of Macromedia, and he's wasn't aware that BCFUG was starting up again. Contacting Ron would be a great idea to sort this out, after all they are advertising a September meeting as you've noted.

Brian Rinaldi Ok, I sent Ron a message. I will post here if I hear anything specific.
