ColdFusion RSS Mashup Built with Yahoo Pipes
I was meaning to delve deeper into Yahoo! Pipes but I was inspired this afternoon by Ray's post about it. Anyway, I was able to whip up a pretty cool feed very quickly. Basically, in my usual day, I check both MXNA and FullAsAGoog since they don't both carry exactly the same feeds. Therefore, I decided to mix the two, throw in Feed-Squirrel for good measure and then filter TechMeme, Slashdot and DZone for the occasional post that related to ColdFusion (which they had none right now to no one's surprise). Anyway, you can see the result by going to:
http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/MMcI16HC2xG0ZlX1EpPZnA/
You can also subscribe to this feed there as well (the RSS url is http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/MMcI16HC2xG0ZlX1EpPZnA/run?_render=rss).
If anyone is interested in this or has any ideas on how I could make it better, I would be happy to hear them. My thought here is to have one place to look rather than many. Anyway, the tools Yahoo! provides here are seriously impressive.

Love it - VERY cool!
Did you filter on the CF feeds only from the goog and mxna?
Oh yeah - and OT - that really sucks about D Wade huh? :(
Yes, these are the ColdFusion category feeds from MXNA, Goog and Feed Squirrel.
Yeah, sucks about D-Wade, but this wasn't gonna be a repeat season anyway.
Thats funny I was just thinking this morning that I wanted to have one CF feed, plus a few cf blogs that are not included in goog and mxna (mine, john ramon of CF Bloggy, etc).
This is a really great way to do it, thanks!
This is pretty awesome. Are you filtering the results to eliminate duplicate posts from the various feeds? (i.e. same posts shows up on Goog, MXNA, and Feed Squirrel -- seen only once in your feed)
Is it possible to add the originating blog or author name to each post? As you get to know the bloggers, it helps to know what is from who (say which?).
Regarding how it works or possible functionality I recommend clicking on the pipe and on the right side is a button that allows you to copy Brian's pipe. Then click on 'my pipes' or something like that and you can start editing your copy of the pipe. Its pretty easy to add additional feeds, and filters.
Brian, do you mind if we copy?
@Bernie
yep, duplicates are being removed by title.
@joshua
Sure, you can feel free to copy the pipe (not that I could stop anyone anyway ;) but I don't mind).
@Matt
Adding the name of the blog is an interesting idea, and I do think it could be done - wonder if the titles would be really long to display though. I could make a copy and test out that idea.
http://www.feedmashr.com takes another approach to the rss feed mix application. it mashes the daily popular rss feeds from the popular social bookmarking sites, and others, but also lets you toggle back in time to see hot links that you may have missed.
