Goodbye Star Wars...Hello Annuities!

Posted on Oct 04, 2006

As of next week I will be bidding farewell to Darth Vader, Optimus Prime, Mr. Potato Head and a great group of developers at Hasbro. It is time to move on to more exciting topics like life insurance, annuities and mutual funds! Despite my kidding, I am actually very excited to announce that I have accepted a position as an applications developer with Sun Life Financial. The primary driver behind the move is that Sun Life is about 40 miles closer to my home (yes, each way), but I am also very excited by the position which will, I believe, allow me to continue to grow as a ColdFusion developer while adding in some Flex and Java skills.

Also let me give a plug to CFUGs (and the Boston CFUG which I run), because it was through the CFUG that I met and got to know some of the developers at Sun Life and, thereby, got this opportunity.

Lastly, as I say goodbye to Hasbro, I want to say thanks to the company, but especially the web development team. It has been a lot of fun - and I know it is difficult putting up with someone as perpetually bright, shiny and optimistic as I am. Now, let's count the days until I become "someone" ;)

P.S. If anyone is looking for a ColdFusion position in Rhode Island, keep your eyes open for the job listing.

Bernie Dolan What's this "ColdFusion" you speak of? Never heard of it.

Kris Personally I'm really happy for you and your family since you'll have an extra 2 hours a day with them.

Professionally I'm calling you a bunch of four letter words :)

And yes, there should be a job listing in a week or two for a CF developer in Rhode Island.
