Music for Your Work Week - Goldfrapp

Posted on May 02, 2006

I have been a fan of Goldfrapp from her first album, 2000's Felt Mountain (actually, while I was not aware of it at the time, I was a fan of her work on Orbital's Snivilization album). Goldfrapp's latest release is Supernature, and is definitely worth checking out. Now, if you are aware of Goldfrapp, you may know that many fans ripped her for selling out after Felt Mountain by straying from that album's extremely experimental and minimalistic sound (I say her, though the "band" is actually a duo). While I appreciate Felt Mountain obviously (and was a bit surprised by Black Cherry initially), I feel the recent album's retain a distinctly "Goldfrapp" sound reminiscent of Felt Mountain but far more accessible. To be honest, I probably could not take more than one Felt Mountain in my music collection - it would be like repeating a concept album.

Anyway, if you decide to check out the latest Goldfrapp album, I recommend "Ride a White Horse", "Fly Me Away" and "Koko" specifically. As always feel free to share if you enjoyed the pick.
