Music for Your Work Week - Shiny Toy Guns

Posted on Apr 25, 2006

So, if you are like me, you get most of your music listening in while coding. As I mentioned in my ColdFusion Weekly podcast interview, I buy way too much music...yes, its true that I have a few interests outside of coding, and I figure this blog should occasionally represent that fact. Therefore, this week will begin the first of weekly itunes picks (and Tuesday being release day, it seems appropriate). My first pick is Shiny Toy Guns - We Are Pilots, which, while not a new release (2005), has been wearing out my ipod since I purchased it last month.

Shiny Toy Guns music is a retro indie-dance or rocktronica along the lines of Out Hud or Ladytron. I describe them as the best 80's band that never existed (at least not in the 80s)...which, if that sounds to you like the compliment I intend it to be, then I recommend you check them out. I especially recommend the songs "We Are Pilots" and "When They Came For Us". Feel free to share if you enjoy the choice!
