New Features on the CF Open Source List

Posted on Oct 21, 2006

So, I am actually kind of productive when the wife and kids are away...even if it is a little too quiet :) I have added several new features to the ColdFusion Open-Source List. Firstly, I have been tracking the click throughs since last weeks upgrade and I started listing the click-throughs with each project. Also, I have added a form to report "bad links." You can use this to report things like 1) a project or project site that no longer exists; 2) corrections to a listing; 3) a project that does not contain a download. Just to remind folks, this list is only for projects that are currently avaiable, and not for planning stage projects that you cannot download (which is part of what differentiates it from sites like RIAForge or CFOpen).Probably, the biggest addition is that I am now including author information with each project I list and linking to the author's blog. I have gone through a number of projects already and added this information, but I still have a way to go - so don't worry if you don't see your credits there. However, you can feel free to send the info to me if you like as it takes time to figure out the author(s) of each project - I am adding name, blog URL and email in case I can in the future inform authors of updates or changes.

Also, in case you caught the OS List RSS feed broken before, it has been fixed...sorry about that, I had forgotten about it :( However, you should note that the URL has changed (http://www.remotesynthesis.com/cfopensourcelist/index.cfm?event=rss)

Let me know what you think of the continuing changes/improvements and share any suggestions for new functionality you may have.

Edward T Just in case no one is telling you this on a regular basis, THANK YOU for keeping this list so full of fresh information!

Peter Bell Hi Brian,

Yeah +1 with Edward - keep up the great work. Was surfing this earlier and found a few projects I might be able to use.

Now I just need to stop blogging long enough to finish up my code and post a couple of projects :->
