ColdFusion Open-Source Update - August 18, 2008

No new releases and five updates this week. Doing a search of my blog it would appear that the last time I posted about no new releases was in December of 2006 - is that possible? Anyway, it is the end of marathon birthday weekend in the Rinaldi house today with my birthday (16th), my son Sam's (17th) and my wife's (today, the 18th). Thankfully we have a couple week break before my older son's (Sep. 2) because I have had my fill of cake.

DataFaucet and the onTap framework got on new official domains -- http://on.tapogee.com and http://www.datafaucet.com -- all the documentation that comes with the downloads is on those sites.

I've moved away from the RIAForge forums in favor of Google groups for both projects.

There is now a webservice that lets you locate and download onTap framework plugins directly within the Plugin Manager interface (much like installing ad-ons within Firefox 3) and I'll be posting a 5-8 minute tutorial showing how to download & install the framework + plugins hopefully this evening. :)

Thought I'd emailed you on a couple of those announcements... maybe I forgot. :)

Brian Rinaldi
You did email me but I didn't realize it was an announcement. Also, there wasn't a post or otherwise to link to. Perhaps these sites need a blog or something to post updates and news.

Sorry about the confusion.

Yeah, right now I just have the RIAForge blogs.

I'm working on sort of revamping their "web presence" in general and in part that means moving away from some of the RIAForge tools ... at least for now... may move back to them in the future, but for right now Ray's not had time to add support for other folks to edit the Wiki for example, I don't seem to get email notification from the forum, blog or bug-tracker...

Nothing against Ray by any stretch of the imagination -- RIAForge has been enormously helpful in hosting and giving me a place where I can have public SVN repositories. And all the work he does on it is volunteer, so *much* praise. Just looking for ways to improve connectivity for the developer communities, which for right now means moving the forums to Google.

And I'll probably be doing something else with the wiki, bug tracker and blogs, although I haven't made any solid decisions on those yet. I might even install BlogCFC on the new server, don't know... just taking things one step at a time. :)

Congrats on the borthdays, but hey, how can it be your 16th birthday but your son's 18th birthday? You got some sorta new math going on?

Brian Rinaldi
@Alan...hehe...mine was *on* the 16th and my sons is on the 17th and my wife's is on the 18th.
