ColdFusion Open Source Update - August 23, 2010

Six new projects and three updates this week in ColdFusion open source. Sorry this post got a bit delayed but given the new job I haven't actually been able to completely set up my new laptop and I cannot imagine writing this post without the little AIR application I built to help anymore. Anyway, a number of interesting releases this week. Besides, the usual API wrapper components, Adam Tuttle's REST framework Taffy seemed very interesting and generated some buzz on Twitter.

New Releases and Updates

New Project: CFiCalLib
Initial Release
This project by Shannon Hicks generates an iCal that you can download or attach to an email.

New Project: IpInfoDB
Initial Release
Marco Williams created this component that works with IPInfoDB.com to get geo location information based upon IP address.

New Project: Outlook Appointment CFC
Outlook Appointment CFC
This component by Stephen Weyrick creates an Outlook appointment string that can be used to create an .ics file.

New Project: Permatime API CFC Wrapper
Initial Release
Matt Gifford created this component which uses the Permatime API to return a URL for your supplied details - good for sharing calendars.

New Project: queryOrganizer
Initial Release
Greg Moser created this component for sorting and filtering query data that also supports an interesting weighted search feature.

New Project: Taffy
Taffy: A Restful Framework for ColdFusion
Adam Tuttle releases his framework for buildin Restful API's with semantically correct URI's and shows how to use it.

Bit.ly ColdFusion Wrapper
Updated Bit.ly ColdFusion Wrapper
Matt Gifford updated his bit.ly component to handle some API changes.

2.1 RC2 released!
