ColdFusion Open-Source Update - February 3, 2010

Posted on Feb 03, 2010

Five new projects and four updates this week in ColdFusion open source. It was a fairly busy week this week so I want to take a moment to point out a post on this list that I think is worth reading in full - Barney Boisvert's commentary on the current state of Fusebox. Assuming Sean Corfield and Barney's take on the issue is true, its a very sad state of affairs for the oldest and still widely used framework in CFML. This is especially worrisome for Fusebox users considering the recent withdrawal of Adam Haskell as the primary developer of Fusebox (and even the death of his short-lived branch of Fusebox). Lastly, its a continuing lesson for open source developers that licensing and rights are a key component to any project, particularly once it gains traction, and should be considered carefully throughout the lifespan of the project. Anyway, on with this week's updates.
