Get Your New Music Fix on CodeBass Radio!

Posted on Mar 31, 2011

CodeBass Radio, an excellent Internet radio station started by Vicky Ryder, Ben Farrell and James Allen, keeps growing and expanding their lineup. They have tons of retro between 90sThursday and 80sRewind. They also have plenty of guitars and amps between Rock Rage and The Guilty Robot Broadcast. Well I hope to bring something a little bit different to CodeBass - I'm bringing all new stuff and I'm packing the keyboards and drum machines..well, among other things. Tomorrow I kick off my first opportunity to DJ on CodeBass Radio along with my friend Bob Silverberg (who currently hosts Bob's Basement) for a show we're calling Vitamin Sweet. Why "Vitamin Sweet"? Because it's about new music...duh! ;) Catch us tomorrow morning beginning at 10am Eastern on codebassradio.net or via MediaSlurp.

So what kind of music can you expect from me? Well, pretty much the only things you can't expect are a) Country and b) Metal. I love electronic stuff (with or without vocals), Latin music (though more Latin alternative than straight Latin), new stuff with a retro feel (what I once referred to as retro-electro alternative when discussing Ladytron or the since defunct Out Hud), stuff with a good beat (as Deee-lite once said) and anything that lets me relive the glory days of My Bloody Valentine and/or Lush (I'm a sucker for female vocals). So, what does that amount to? Well this week I have in store songs from:

  • The Go! Team
  • The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
  • The Limousines
  • Lykke Li
  • Asobi Seksu
  • Javiera Mena
  • freezepop

Perhaps you know a few of these artists, but hopefully I have the chance to introduce you to some new ones. Anyway, tune in tomorrow and every two weeks following for Vitamin Sweet!

James Allen Awesome overview Brian! I'm really looking forward to yours and Bob's show as it's always really cool to discover new music. The latin vibe especially should be very interesting.

I haven't heard of any of those bands. :) Roll on Friday so I can discover what they are all about.

Good luck on your first show - should be great.
