Updates to both Firefox and Thunderbird (versions 1.0.6)

Posted on Jul 20, 2005

Mozilla just released updates to both Firefox and Thunderbird. The main fix on both (from the release notes - Firefox,Thunderbird) appears to be to "restore API compatibility for extensions that did not work in [versions 1.0.5]". This issue did not really affect me, but in this article they also claim "minor updates to improve stability". If you want to download go here for Firefox and here for Thunderbird.

Mike Rankin I wonder why the update from within the programs doesn't seem to work. Is there a delay before the updates get rolled out to the automatic download area? I had the same issue with the 1.0.5 release.

Brian Rinaldi Honestly, I have never been able to get the automatic updates to work on anything but extensions . I always have to download and launch the installer (which is kind of a pain).

Ryan They haven't actually enabled/finished the update functionality in 1.0x. The Deer Park alphas don't include it either. They are at alpha 2 and are planning to allow incremental upgrades on the full 1.1 release slated for sometime this summer.

Brian Rinaldi I did, in fact, get notified of the update since I had not updated my home computer yet. However, this only happened today, so clearly there is a delay.
